Enforce the Traffic Regulation Order at Long Lane – Install Safety Cameras Now
We’re calling on East Riding Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner to take action now.
Residents across Beverley have had enough of the dangerous and illegal driving at the Woodmansey Mile / Long Lane junction. Despite the new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) being in place, drivers are continuing to make illegal turns, ignoring signage and putting pedestrians — especially schoolchildren, cyclists, and families — at serious risk.
Long Lane is supposed to be a designated quiet lane. But with cars using it as a cut-through, speeding, and overtaking dangerously, it's anything but quiet — it's become a hazard.
We’re asking East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner to:
- Install enforcement cameras at the junction to uphold the TRO
- Fine or prosecute those who break the law
- Introduce traffic calming measures along Long Lane and Woodmansey Mile
- Build a safe footpath on Long Lane to protect pedestrians
Why this matters:
This is about safety, not inconvenience. We should not have to wait for a serious accident to happen before proper enforcement is put in place. Cameras will save lives, reduce congestion, and restore peace of mind to our community.
Add your name below if you agree it’s time for action.
Together, we can make our streets safer for everyone.
