Fighting Labour’s Power Grab on Planning

Liberal Democrat Councillors are opposing Labour’s new plans to take planning powers away from local councillors. Under proposals in the Government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill, planning decisions could be made by ministers in London and unelected officials at County Hall — not by councillors elected to represent their communities.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Denis Healy said: “This is a power grab that sidelines residents. Local people should decide what gets built in their area — not distant bureaucrats.”
The Lib Dems are fighting these plans every step of the way and standing up for local voices, local democracy, and local accountability.
