Amazon's huge illuminated sign not given go-ahead thanks to Lib Dem councillor and residents objections

he Amazon application for illuminated signage came before Western Area sub- committee today. Together with residents local Lib Dem councillor Margaret Corless opposed the application.
Margaret spoke on behalf of residents, a resident spoke and they were supported by residents who had come to view the proceedings. The only grounds for refusal in such an application are public health and residential amenity. Margaret spoke to demonstrate that illumination on the North elevation would be visible to many and have a severe effect on residential amenity.
Margaret is delighted to say that she and the residents won with the vote 7 to 4 in our favour and the application was rejected. The Liberal Democrat representatives on the committee were the only party to vote unanimously against the application.
