Teenager is refused hysterectomy
An NHS trust has ruled it will not allow a hysterectomy on a severely disabled girl to go ahead. Alison Thorpe, 45, said her 15-year-old daughter Katie, who has cerebral palsy, would be confused by periods and they would cause her indignity.

Scientists believe they have made a breakthrough in a treatment for breast cancer. Some women using the anti-cancer drug tamoxifen have found it stopped working. Now researchers at Tenovus Centre for Cancer Research at Cardiff University say they have found a way to halt or even reverse resistance to the drug.

Disabled boy wins pothole review
An 11-year-old disabled boy has advised a council on pavement repairs after he fell down steps in his wheelchair. Brandon Aughton, from Netherfield in Nottinghamshire, was on his way to school when his wheelchair got caught in a pothole and he toppled down steps.

Disabled gambler loses £100,000
A mother has called for gambling rules to be tightened after her mentally disabled son lost about £100,000 in casinos and betting shops. Alex Mottram, 39, of Bournemouth, lost most of the compensation he was awarded after suffering brain injuries in a cycle race when he was 16.
