We no longer need thinktanks and charities to produce reports on what might happen if you attempt to reform every strand of the social security system at once, without taking any advice at all from people who actually live with illnesses or disabilities, and at a time when money is short and compassion shorter.

Lib Dems create 100,000 apprentices
The Liberal Democrats have delivered a huge boost to apprenticeships, with plans to create at least 100,000 new apprentices over the next two years. As the party of opportunity for young people, the Lib Dems have fought in Government to give more young people the chance to get on in life. The recent budget included two schemes to support apprentices.

MP: Mountain Rescue funding safeguarded
Local MP Tim Farron & MEP Chris Davies have today hailed a government announcement that funding for Mountain Rescue has been safeguarded. At Transport Questions at the House of Commons this morning, ministers announced that the funding secured in 2011 will be protected.
