Change to Mayor's Cabinet

There will be a change to Mayor Dave Hodgson's Cabinet in the new Council year 2013/14, with Cllr David Sawyer stepping down due to additional work commitments, to be replaced as Education Portfolio Holder by fellow Liberal Democrat Councillor Henry Vann. Labour Councillor Sue Oliver, Portfolio Holder for Children's Social Care, will take on the role of Lead Member for Children's Services, which is currently held by Cllr Sawyer. The changes will take effect from May 1st, in time for the new Municipal Year.

Farron welcomes government fallen stock funding for farmers

Cumbrian MP Tim Farron has this morning thanked the Government for responding to his persistent calls over the past fortnight to support farmers in light of the recent devastating weather conditions by agreeing to provide financial compensation to farmers to help dispose of fallen stock.

Riverside is good to go

A new planning application for the Bowyers or 'Innox Riverside' site in Trowbridge was considered by the planning committee on February 13th. Planning officers recommended permission, with a total of 47 conditions and a legal agreement. Councillors overwhelmingly backed the proposal. However because the government doesn't trust local people to make decisions on this type of application it had to go to the Men from the Ministry to decide whether or not they wanted to call it in for ministerial consideration.
