Your North Jesmond councillors are very pleased to report that - after a long struggle with bureaucracy and technical obstacles - it has been agreed that the ward will acquire a new CCTV camera which can be retained exclusively for use in North Jesmond. It is 'redeployable' meaning that it can be shifted from location to location as required. In addition to this, the four cameras which we currently share with five neighbouring wards are being replaced and upgraded.

New city centre weather station to help assess the impact of climate change

A new weather station has been opened in Birmingham city centre to help scientists to discover more about climate change and extreme weather conditions in an urban environment. The city council's Environmental Partnership has teamed up with University of Birmingham, the West Midlands Climate Change Adaptation Partnership and the Met Office to develop the city centre station.

Essex County Council has announced that Lord Hanningfield remains a County Councillor, as he has lodged an appeal against his conviction on expenses fraud. However the Liberal Democrats have called on him to do the honourable thing and resign.
