National reporters probe Tory sleaze in Wolverhampton

How is it that Sandip Verma, the Conservative candidate in Wolverhampton South West in the 2005 general election, failed to win a seat in the House of Commons but in next to no time was given a title and seat in the House of Lords? That's the question the national news media want answered. The Sunday Times last week contacted the Liberal Democrat candidate Colin Ross for his views and on Sunday 1st October published a piece about a mysterious body called the Midlands Industrial Council.

Get weeding those pavements!

The local Liberal Democrats have attacked Conservative-run Essex County Council for allowing weeds to take over some of the pavements around Chelmsford. Lib Dem Councillor Simon Jones (St Andrews ward) has written to the Essex Chronicle in response to an earlier letter.

Supporting Chelmsford Fairtrade AGM

Chelmsford Fairtrade Town Campaign tonight held a successful AGM, attended by 24 people. Local Lib Dem Stephen Robinson was one of the attendees and Chelmsford Liberal Democrats were recorded in the annual report as one of the new campaign supporters.
