Snow wardens use salt provided by Warwickshire County Council to de-ice critical public footpaths, road junctions, steep roads and outside sheltered accommodation. They are alerted when the county council has received a forecast of severe cold weather.
Essex County Council has rejected a bid to allocate funding for low-energy streetlights. At a meeting of the full council, the Liberal Democrat Group moved a motion calling on the council to allocate funds in next year's budget.
