Rising star of Rochdale Liberal Democrats Atifa Shah from Deeplish last night put Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg MP on the spot over plans for young people. Atifa, 20, the former Youth Member of Parliament for the Borough impressed all. She was speaking in front of over 300 party members including several MPs including Paul Rowen and Councillors and members from across Rochdale.

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen was pleased to present His Excellency Anwar Choudhury, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh with a reminder of his roots - a Rochdale football shirt. Mr Rowen, presented the youngest British High Commissioner of any country with the shirt in the capital city Dhaka of Bangladesh to Mr Chowdhury - who grew up in Rochdale and still has family living in the town.
Shepway District Councillor and Local Liberal Democrat Party Chair Tim Prater has joined the calls for Conservative Councillors for Hythe West Linda and John Oliver to resign. The call in interviews with BBC South East and local radio station KMFM adds to those of local residents and the local Herald newspaper, who are also calling for her resignation.
Liberal Democrats have demanded a full inquiry following the admission from the Government that two US extraordinary rendition flights stopped on the British territory of Diego Garcia. The Foreign Secretary said he was "very sorry" to have to say that previous denials were now having to be corrected. In answers to Ming Campbell the Government had denied knowledge of the use of British territory or airspace for the purposes of extraordinary rendition.
Former Hythe Town Councillor and current Kent County Councillor Christopher Capon has been found to have breached the Councillors Code of Conduct THREE times by the Standards Committee at Shepway District Council. The Conservative Hythe Councillor was censured by the committee, which was the only punishment open to them.
