Cllr Robert Vint joins the Liberal Democrats

Cllr Robert Vint, who was the sole Green Party Councillor on Devon County Council, as well as being a member of South Hams District Council and Totnes Town Council, has joined the Liberal Democrats. As a result, the LibDem county council group now has 10 members, and the LibDem group on South Hams District Council has four members and becomes the second biggest group on the council.

Lib Dems launch Pennines Public Transport Consultation

Rochdale Lib Dem Leader Councillor Andy Kelly has joined forces with local transport campaigners to launch a consultation on the future of public transport in the Pennines. He was speaking after meeting with the Commercial Director of First Buses to discuss the removal of the 182 daytime service. Lib Dems claim that this has had a devastating impact for local people - especially those who rely on it to get to the Royal Oldham Hospital. 562 local people have signed an online petition with hundreds more signing paper copies.

New psychology building and the Centre for Applied Autism Research opened

The new 10 West building was officially opened on Wednesday 20 July by eminent psychologist Dame Vicki Bruce, an expert on human face perception and person memory. It provides space for the expansion of the Department of Psychology, including the new Centre for Applied Autism Research (CAAR), a new home for the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and a dedicated postgraduate study space on its upper floors.
