Home Office Equalities Minister, Lib Dem MP Lynne Featherstone today set out the Government's plans to tackle homophobia and transphobia and promote equal rights for all. Speaking to the Trade Unions Congress (TUC) LGBT conference ahead of Pride London 2010, Lynne stressed that the battle for equality is far from over and promised that the Coalition Government would do everything in its power to protect LGBT people from discrimination.
Lib Dem councillors have brought a Motion to the Council asking for charges to be made for advice given by council officers in advance of a major planning application being formally registered.
Wolverhampton's Liberal Democrat Euro MP Liz Lynne has spoken out to reassure businesses and consumers that there is no threat of a ban to sell eggs by the dozen. The MEP said there was no draft proposal to ban sales by quantity.
I was delighted to formally open the new car park on Havelock Street in Queens Park yesterday afternoon. The car park is intended to help tackle the congestion problems which occur along Ford End Road due to unlawful parking on the roadside. Huge credit for the new car park must go to Wells and Young's brewery, who very kindly donated the land for the car park for the benefit of the local community. At the official opening I also congratulated the local residents, Councillors and everyone who had contributed to making the idea for a shoppers car park a reality.
Our minister in the Home Office, Lynne Featherstone MP, has just blogged to announce she will be marching with Delga at London Pride. She writes: "On Saturday I will be marching with Pride at Pride. I will be spending half of the march as Government together with Nick Herbert, the openly gay Conservative Minister for Policing - and half with DELGA the Liberal Democrats' LGBT group"
