As the rival camps marshal their arguments before the referendum on Europe there is a trio of paramount concerns It's my 49th birthday today (Thursday 7 January). Having a birthday in early January has a few drawbacks: as a youngster, presents were usually downsized to make up for the gift-giving binge of Christmas; as an adult, well, it's just one of those slightly dreary return-to-work times of the year when birthdays don't have their usual pizzazz.

Tories to axe Wiltshire buses

Wiltshire Conservatives want to cut all subsidised bus services in the county. This would leave only the routes between main towns, which make a profit, in place. Villages across the county are likely to lose most of their buses. The council is performing one of its notorious 'consultations' on the cuts. Here's their announcement:
