Plans to build on green spaces in Springfield and Downs Barn shock residents

We've been out talking to residents about plans that a Labour Cabinet member "has been overseeing" to add two areas of green space in Springfield and one in Downs Barn into the Council's list of sites for potential future housing development. Residents whose houses back on to one of the Springfield sites, which stretches from the back of the pub to Stamford Avenue and Graveney Place, weren't happy with the idea that their green space, which includes a very popular new play area, could be built on.

Rugby’s unemployment fell in October 2014

The number of people out of work and claiming unemployment benefits in Rugby fell to 655 in October 2014. That is 44 down on September 2014 and 1,391 down on the last full month Labour were in office (April 2010).

MP says cancer report shows why we need radiotherapy at Westmorland General

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has used the release of a report showing that cancer care at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is rated as very good or excellent as further evidence to bring radiotherapy services to Westmorland General Hospital. Tim was instrumental in bringing chemotherapy to our hospital.

Thousands more to get plastic and cardboard doorstep recyling

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that there will be a massive expansion of kerbside recycling of plastics and cardboard to thousands more homes in South Lakeland. Tim has thanked the Lib Dem run district council for their work to make this happen.
