Edward Davey MP joined Dave Hodgson and local Liberal Democrats on the campaign trail in Bedford last night. Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary Edward Davey MP visited Bedford last night to help Dave Hodgson's campaign to become Mayor of Bedford Borough. Mr Davey spoke to Dave about the key issues for the by-election campaign, and heard about Dave's priorities for supporting the local economy, improving local roads, tackling crime and protecting the environment, before hitting the campaign trail and meeting local residents in Bedford.

Final Chance for St Edmundsbury

Paul Lambillion (BFP 28th August) was right to highlight the problems that arise as a result of poor planning and the residents of Moreton Hall can have no confidence in the Borough Council maintaining a firm grip on development. Recent builders so condensed the building that they had lots of spare land left over and the Council instead of insisting on community use of the spare land permitted the developer opportunity profits by allowing them to build further housing.

Confused?

The self proclaimed "Easy Council" tag will no doubt come back time and time and time again to haunt Barnet. I note the Tory cabinet has decided to cut grants to some voluntary groups. In the scheme of things (think Icelandic Banks), the amounts are small. But to the groups deprived of the income it can mean the difference between survival and going under.
