Folkestone West County Councillor Tim Prater has started a bid under Kent County Council's Members Highway Fund to look into a scheme to create a one-way scheme in Morehall Avenue and Chart Road in Folkestone. The roads suffer badly from parking and traffic problems, especially around school times, with the roads often locking with traffic unable to pass each way.
Heather Kidd called for support for Liberal Democrat proposals to tighten controls on surveillance powers for authorities including councils and the police. Heather said that "According to a report by the Interception of Communications Commissioner more than 500,000 requests to access phone and e-mail records were made in 2008. This is an outrageously high figure, but not surprising when you consider it only requires a magistrate to approve a request for surveillance."
