Lib Dems to oppose Coral Mill application
Milnrow and Newhey Lib Dems will formally object to Countryside Properties application to build 69 new houses on the site of Coral Mill in Newhey. Councillor Andy Kelly and Irene Davidson claimed they were not opposed to the site being developed but couldn't support the application in its current form. They also accused the developers of only being interested in "making as much money as possible" and having "little interest in Newhey". Councillor Kelly said: "Everyone knows that the site needs to be developed. It's been a blight on the Newhey community for years. It's our view that the application in its current form will exacerbate the existing parking problems suffered by Newhey residents. At no point does it address this, at no point does it acknowledge the affect that such a big development will have on our local amenities and we believe that 69 rental properties is not in the best interests of the Newhey community.
