Local MP Tim Farron has today criticised bus firm Stagecoach for the 7.5% rise in the cost of travelling in South Cumbria, this will be the third time in four years that the fares have risen. The rise, which is significantly more than the rate of inflation has been attributed to a rise in fuel prices.

Communities across South Lakeland continue to register their support for their local post offices. So far over 3700 people have signed petitions protesting closures.
