Liberal Democrats announce plans to tackle the growing number of long-term empty homes in Makerfield The Liberal Democrats announce today that they would allow Wigan Council to increase council tax by up to 500% on empty homes that are left empty long-term. The latest Government statistics show that there were 1,342 homes left empty long-term in Wigan in 2018.

At a recent Sandgate and West Folkestone Councillors Surgery, a resident had raised with me that the "Jacob's Ladder" footpath rising from Sandgate Hill to the Folkestone School for Girls / Coolinge Lane was fairly overgrown and increasingly slippy underfoot.
