With just one week to go until the deadline, South Lakeland MP Tim Farron is encouraging local community projects to apply to a bank fund giving out grants of up to £35,000.

Copeland by-election – Lib Dems more than double vote share and move up to third place, beating UKIP
Congratulations to Rebecca Hanson and the team for an excellent showing at the Copeland by-election, caused by the resignation of Labour's Jamie Reed. Our vote share more than doubled from 3.5% at the 2015 general election to 7.25%. We moved up from fourth place to third - beating UKIP. Dramatically, the Tories won the by-election in this normally rock-solid Labour seat. Psephologist John Curtice told the BBC that this was the biggest gain, in share of the vote, by a governing party in a byelection since the Hull North byelection in 1966.

Federal People Development Committee – 21 February 2017
Tuesday night saw the inaugural meeting of the Party's new Federal People Development Committee. This group oversees the Party's work in the areas of Diversity, Membership and Training. The committee was established by the Party's Governance Review, with the idea being that the work in these three areas has a lot of overlap and would benefit from co-ordination.

Another 150 trees planted in Milnrow
The campaign to plant 10,000 trees in the Rochdale Borough saw 150 native British trees planted on Tunshill Golf Course in Milnrow this week. Members of the "10,000 trees group", Golf Club members and Councillor Andy Kelly planted the trees, supported by The Woodland's Trust. Councillor Kelly said: "It was great to see different groups coming together to plant these trees at the golf course. Trees are good for our environment and it is another step in our plan to plant 10,000 across our Borough. At a time, when all the discussion is all about building across the Borough - enhancing our rural areas is definitely the way forward." Environmentalist Matt Knowles from the 10k Trees Project said: "I would like to thank the golf club for allowing us to plant yet more trees. The Borough of Rochdale needs more trees. Trees and woods continue to disappear from our landscapes. This is why we plant trees on our land and support people, organisations and partners to help make trees part of their land." Double win in Bolton
Lib Dems in Bolton were celebrating last night as Rebekah Fairhurst and Bernadette Eckersley-Fallon won byelections to represent Daisy Hill and Wingates on Westhoughton town council respectively. Both were gains from Labour.
