Rochdale's Transport Boss Councillor Zulf Ali has vowed to lead the fight to secure the future of free bus passes for pensioners. It comes after the Local Government Association this week revealed that millions may miss out as part of a cost cutting initiative.

Liberal Democrat lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality organisation DELGA has set an AGM date of 20th September. The meeting, open to all paid-up members of DELGA, will be held as part of the party's Autumn Federal Conference, and will elect a team to lead DELGA and the Lib Dems LGBT campaign into an anticipated 2010 General Election.
