MP rolls up his sleeves and spends afternoon as ‘Lengthsman’ in Grange
South Lakeland MP Tim Farron rolled up his sleeves and spent yesterday afternoon with Grange Lengthsman John Gilmore cleaning local footpaths and inspecting roads and walls in the town.

Essex County Council spends £173 million on consultants
Figures have been uncovered that show Essex County Council spent £173 million on consultants and agency staff over the last three years. The figures were uncovered by a question from Liberal Democrat County Councillor David Kendall at a full council meeting.

Chicken joint cut
Wiltshire Police asked the council to review the license of Favourite Chicken and Ribs, Market Place Trowbridge. They alleged the business was contributing to violence and anti-social behaviour in the town, as well as breaching the terms of its license by serving customers later than permitted.

Andrew Stunell: Putting councils back in control of their own finances
Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed a Government announcement that local Council's will see benefits from business rates collected in their area. Tim Prater lobbied Communities Minister Andrew Stunell for the return of business rates to local authorities last year.
