Bank of England figures released today showed that lending to 'non financial corporations' tumbled by a record £14.7bn between April and June, the biggest slump since it's data began in 1997. The Conservative group that runs Essex County Council has once again attempted to stop the Lib Dem opposition from doing its job, of holding the administration to account. They voted today to remove the Lib Dem group's only full-time support staff member. This is in stark contrast to support for the Conservative councillors, who will continue to have 13 full-time, taxpayer-funded staff to support their cabinet members.
In a blatant act of revenge, Lord Hanningfield and the Conservative administration group at Essex County Council have today (5 August) voted to cut off the only opposition group's one full time support staff in a bid to gag the opposition.
