The Liberal Democrats came second to the Conservatives in the recent Newark East division by-election, with Lib Dem Chris Harrison receiving over 28% of the vote.
Members from Newark Local Party have arrived at Liberal Democrat conference in Bournemouth for the Liberal Democrats 2009 Autumn conference. Chairman Brian Cane will be attending a series of conference sessions and debates, training sessions, fringe meetings and more.
The largest ever team to attend the annual Liberal Democrats conference, from the Ludlow constituency, have descended on Bournemouth. Bringing wonderful summer like weather with them, the four days of hectic activity will see the local members taking advantage of a wealth of interesting and exciting activities in and around the conference building.
Professor Richard Dawkins will put the case for libel law reform to the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference on Sunday, speaking to an amendment of the civil liberties motion.
Thanks to the work of Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson, Councillor Robin Lawrence and local campaigner Zahid Shah Wolverhampton Homes has agreed to carry out much needed work in the Glentworth Gardens area of St Peters Ward. While working in the area Councillor Robin Lawrence met with local residents to listen to their concerns.
Proposals for better control of payments for road repairs made by their Local Committee for Epsom & Ewell back in July, were this week formally accepted at Surrey County Council's first Cabinet Member "decision taking" sessions. County Cllr Colin Taylor, this year's chairman of the Local Committee, attended and welcomed the response from the Cabinet Member for Transport.
