Lib Dems put Merrymeade House at the top of the agenda

In response to Brentwood Leisure Trust's application for an alcohol license at Merrymeade House, Sawyers Hall Lane, Brentwood North's Liberal Democrat councillors have met with residents of Merrymeade House, Brentwood Place, Burland Road and Highland Avenue to discuss their concerns and involve them in the Council's licensing process.

Local residents are being encouraged to check they are registered to vote in next years local elections and referendum on voting reform. The Council is completing their annual canvas of the borough to update the electoral register.

Surrey Academy Shock

Stories suggesting all Surrey schools were on their way to becoming Academies appeared in national newspapers on 30th September. This was fortunate for local MP Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education, as the Conservative party conference was due to start three days later, and even here in his home county of Surrey just one school was ready to become an Academy.
