A short service of remembrance, led by a chaplain, was held at Christchurch Tower in the Garden of Remembrance, Sandgate road, Folkestone. Touchingly, the Methodist congregation from across the road came out to join the service.
In honour of William Harvey Day, to celebrate the life and achievements of one of Folkestone's most famous sons, it was a great pleasure to meet the representatives from the Harvarian Society, most of whom were members of the Royal College of Physicians.
The William Harvey Day service on Sunday afternoon began with a robed procession to the newly cleaned William Harvey Statue close to the Leas Cliff Hall, where a chaplain conducted a short service. The statue has been cleaned by Folkestone Town Council after taking over responsibility for the statue from Shepway District Council - and it looks really good!

Chinese Liberal Democrat Executive member Cllr Allan Siao Ming Witherick will be one of the group leaders later this month for the UK-China 400 programme visiting China with the topic "Environment and Healthy Lifestyle". This links well to Allan's other roles which include being the Shadow Cabinet member for Adult Care Services and Health in Hertfordshire and last year when he chaired the International Youth Forum on Climate Change in Korea.
