Lib Dems - Getting on with control in Rochdale

Labour getting more desperate by the day!

Rochdale MP - Cllr. Paul Rowen has responded to Labour dirty tricks by saying "they should concentrate on their job of representing their own areas." They put out a Press Release calling for Paul to stand down as a Councillor. Paul has announced that he will not be seeking re-election next year when his term of office comes to an end, but says for the time being he will continue to represent Rochdale in the Houses of Parliament and Milkstone and Deeplish at Rochdale Council level.

£3.1 Million Tax Credit Chaos Hits Local Families

Paul Holmes, Liberal Democrat MP for Chesterfield has today called for a total overhaul of the way tax credits are awarded after new figures revealed that 3,900 families in Chesterfield are still being forced to pay back over £3.1 million worth of tax credits, due to overpayments made by HM Revenue and Customs.

Lib Dems best for environment says poll

A Friends of the Earth poll has put the Liberal Democrats well ahead of the other main parties in caring about climate change. Asked 'Which of the three main parties cares most about climate change?', nearly 83 per cent of the respondents named the Liberal Democrats. The Conservatives were in second place on 12 per cent and Labour on 6 per cent.
