Despite forcing Wiltshire residents to pay a massive increase in parking charges across Wiltshire it has been revealed that Conservative Councillors have spent £370,000 on resurfacing a car park that will only be used for a few years by councillors and staff at the council's temporary offices at Shurnhold in Melksham.
Lib Dems in Wiltshire have reacted with shock and fury to news that taxpayers have been paying for Chief Executive Andrew Kerr's membership of private London clubs and for him to stay in top flight hotels.
From the 1st October 2011 sales of tobacco from vending machines will be banned. This means it will be illegal to sell cigarettes or any other form of tobacco from an automated vending machine regardless of the age of the person. It will also be against the law for such machines to display advertisements or tobacco promotion.
Chelmsford council is carrying out a town centre survey and wants your input. They want to understand what areas need to be improved and what areas are working well, in order to maintain a vibrant and welcoming town for residents and visitors. Tomorrow the Council will be submitting a bid to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) for the Bedford International Athletics Stadium to be granted the status of an 'Olympics Live Site' next summer. If successful, this will see us awarded a grant of £7,500 and will enable us to stage a free fun-filled festival of sport at the stadium during the Olympics, featuring a big screen showing all the action live, including the men's 100 metre final, and opportunities to have a go on the top class facilities on offer, especially for young people.
As part of the planning consent for the Victoria Fields development in Warminster Persimmon Homes were required to provide traffic calming on Grovelands Way. However when the details of the scheme went out for consultation there were objections from a couple of residents and from Frome Minibuses, whilst there was no support for the proposals from anyone.
