Motorists in Bedford Borough will no longer need to make sure they have the right cash to pay for a parking ticket from 1st November. Instead, all they will need is a mobile phone!
The team behind Bedford in Bloom were celebrating into the early hours of this morning after coming top of the class at the national Britain in Bloom awards in Birmingham last night.
The regular Sandgate Farmers Market is again open for business this Saturday 2nd October at The Chichester Memorial Hall, Sandgate from 10.00am until 12.00 noon. with free entry, and refreshments available, all local residents are welcome!
A belated thanks to Martin, Jayne and Michael and all their team at the Plough, and also of course to everyone at the pub on Tuesday night for the warm welcome on Tuesday evening at the latest 'Pints in the Parishes.' I enjoyed discussing a number of issues facing residents in Bolnhurst, Keysoe and other villages nearby. Speeding came up as a problem, as it did more commonly than any other issue during my recent village tour. I have a meeting with the Chief Superintendent next week, and will be discussing again how the Council can work most effectively with the police on effective speeding enforcement across the Borough.
The national minimum wage will increase by 13p an hour to £5.93 today, benefiting an estimated one million mainly women workers.
