Liberal Democrats have announced they would boost investment in police forces by £300m a year. This is in stark contrast to the Conservatives who have overseen devastating cuts to community policing. Theresa May as Home Secretary and now Prime Minister has cut policing budgets by over £2bn, eroding the very fabric of community policing. Under the Liberal Democrats Lincolnshire would see a funding increase of £2,360,000 a year. This could be used to restore a visible policing presence in the community and ensure the police have the training and tools to deal with the changing nature of crime.
This is the latest leaflet for the General Election. What it does not say is that I believe that MP's have become too remote from constituencies in many cases. They are all elected to represent the people of their constituency and fight against policies which have unfair impacts on their electorate. Rural areas are being hit hard at present - things like housing - very expensive in a low wage area, school funding cuts, NHS funding,Adult social care funding and even attracting and keepng carers, business rates in our small towns etc. etc.It is time that these real issues for many across the constituency had a real and vocal champion.
