A leading Hinckley and Bosworth Liberal Democrat has slammed the government for refusing to publish Cabinet minutes relating to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Lib Dems say more sport needed in schools
One of the topics debated at this weekend's Liberal Democrat Regional Conference in Bradford was the need for more sport in schools to combat childhood obesity. The debate, chaired by Scarborough and Whitby PPC Tania Exley-Moore, produced some heated discussion about how the Labour Government have failed children in this country. Delgates argued that the main failure in Labour's approach to education was that millions of children left primary school failing to achieve basic levels of literacy and numeracy. It was felt that this was a direct result of the narrowing of the national curriculum and the over-emphasis on testing.

New Focus for St. Peter's Ward
St Peter's Ward Focus Team. led by Zahid Shah, are delivering their latest Focus leaflet across the Ward. The Focus concentrates on the way in which local residents have been let down by Labour and illustrates it with examples of fly tipping, graffiti, vandalism and drug taking in an abandoned former school building. Local Labour councillors have taken no action to sort things out.

The Labour council leader has been boosting in the local press about his party voting through a 4.5% increase in Council Tax rather than a 4.9% at this evenings Council meeting.

Taxing times
All good things must come to an end. I have returned from holiday. I had requested the Council Officers not to deliver any papers during my absence, so I had no idea what would be in store yesterday evening.
