Local MP Tim Farron has urged the Government to stop starving the NHS of funds after new figures revealed that over 2,000 operations in South Cumbria and North Lancashire have been cancelled at the last minute because of non-clinical reasons.
In the two unusual Wednesday by-elections in Godalming, the Lib Dem candidate Paul Follows won the vacant seats on both Godalming Town and Waverley Borough councils, previously held by Conservatives.
Last week Sense, a charity campaigning for disabled people, published a report entitled "Someone cares if I'm not there", looking at loneliness and disabled people. Sense is part of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness which is attempting to start a national conversation about a growing problem, not just for disabled people but across the spectrum. Despite objections from residents Wiltshire Council is to put yellow lines along the road from Green Lane to Huntingfield. This will allow traffic to speed through the development without being slowed by parked cars.
