EU bulletin 7th January 2016 - Germans aim for "reasonable package" for UK

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said yesterday (6 January) she wanted talks to renegotiate the terms of Britain's membership of the European Union to produce a "reasonable package" that would keep Britain in the bloc, reports EurActiv. In an article for the German tabloid Bild,Cameron has appealed to Germany to help him achieve the reforms he needs to persuade Britons to remain in the EU. Labour’s Zero Carbon City pledge exposed as Greenwash

Newcastle Liberal Democrats have exposed Labour's pre-Paris Agreement zero carbon city pledge as a sham. Suspicious at a total lack of awareness of the pledge within the Council, the Lib Dems challenged the Labour Leader of Council Nick Forbes as to what discussions had taken place before the pledge was made.
