Farron concerned for long term future of Woolworths
Following yesterday's announcement that Woolworths is to go into administration, MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that stores will remain open until Christmas but has called for the North West Development Agency to ensure that no long term jobs are lost from Kendal store.

Disappointment for Phoenix FM
A Liberal Democrat motion to get a £25,000 donation for Phoenix FM was withdrawn last night when it became clear that Brentwood's Conservative administration would not be voting for it at last night's Policy Panel meeting.

New chairman for Folkestone Town Centre Management
Peter Fawcett, a retired chartered builder, has been elected chairman of Folkestone Town Centre Management (FTCM). Previously chairman of the Folkestone Area Partnership Against Crime (FAPAC), an operational arm of FTCM, he succeeds commercial estate agent Andrew Beggs, who stood down after a completing a three-year term in the office but remains a director of the not-for-profit organisation which includes retailers and other businesses.

Conservatives hint at closing public sector final salary pensions
The Conservative Party leader David Cameron has hinted that the public sector's final salary pension scheme could be closed and workers moved into a defined contribution arrangement if the party is voted in to government.
