The email that could have been sent to Liberal Democrat members

It may be traditional for Doctor Who fans to hide behind a sofa, but in the face of potentially controversial decisions, the right instinct is to get out in front of the issue and start communicating - rather than hiding behind the sofa and hoping no-one much will notice or discuss them. I've often commented about the problems with internal communication in the Liberal Democrats, so here is another practical example of what could be done. This time it's how canny internal communications in good time (i.e. ahead of the issue) regarding the party's expedited candidate selection process could have headed off many of the questions and concerns raised.

For new members: The Lowdown - How the Lib Dems work and what we have to offer

Welcome to the thousands of people who have joined the Liberal Democrats over the past month. This is basically a repeat of a post that I did last year when many joined the party in the wake of the election result in the hope that it might be useful to tell you a little bit about how our party works and give you a bit of an idea of the opportunities open to you. If you are not yet a member, read it and think it sounds appealing, sign up here.
