Employment Relations Minister Ed Davey today announced the end of the default retirement age. This will give people the freedom to choose their own retirement date rather than being forced to stop working when they reach the age of 65.

It was a great event, with a real buzz about the place as a huge queue waited patiently for me to cut the ribbon in order that they could cross the threshold and get their first taste of the store!
