Entertainment and Education intertwined. Could Soap Operas do more?

I have been watching 'This Morning' on TV and they were doing a phone-in about a storyline that's coming up on Corrie and it got me thinking. Given that many people could get help with their issues by seeing characters in their favourite soap operas going through the same thing, could this be exploited in some way? I know that, quite often, we get the helpful message at the end of a programme giving a phone number that people can ring if they have been affected by any of the issues they have just seem, but could more be done?

Sex, drugs, and rock fracturing – Lib Dems meet in York

I've just returned home from the Lib Dem's Spring Conference which has taken place this weekend in York. I enjoyed meeting friends, making new ones, listening to topical fringe sessions, and getting involved with the process of deciding our party's policy. This was the first conference to be conducted under new one member, one vote rules which give all members attending conference the right to vote on changes to our policies. Previously members were required to be selected by their local party to be a conference representative in order to vote. This is a very welcome move to improve the ability of members to get involved in setting party policy. However, we should continue to look at ways in which we can open this up to members who cannot attend conference.

The Liberal Democrats' Spring Conference in York - 2016

There are always places for a keen member to attend Party Conference as one of our representatives, and anyway, now any member can attend and vote (if they can affords the travel and accommodation costs plus the registration fee). However, as far as I know I was NEELD's only person at our Spring Conference this year, despite York being such a wonderful place and relatively easy to get to.
