Shieldfield Social Club - petition received

A petition by residents opposed to the demolition of Shieldfield Social Club so as to build a 100-bed student hall, has been received by Planners. Gareth Cooper commented: "I and my councillor colleagues have objected to this application. There are enough student halls in Shieldfield, and it is leading to a lack of balance in the community. I hope that the Development Control Committee will listen to the voice of residents in this matter, when they make their decision on 27th May."

It means that the tar is at the ideal temperature when they actually carry out the works, and does not cool down on route from the depot, as was prone to happen in the past. It also means that the teams do not have to keep returning to the depot to pick up hot tar, and can stay out on the roads responding to calls swiftly and getting more potholes filled than ever before. The teams are also now working on Saturdays, spending more hours out on the roads and pavements carrying out vital rep
