Liberal Democrat federal committee elections: what are they all about?

For the first time this year, the elections for the main Liberal Democrat committees are being carried out by a ballot of all party members rather than the electorate being restricted only to party conference representatives. (That expansion of the party's democracy was originally proposed in a very flawed way by the Federal Executive - something which I and others than managed to get sorted.) Ballot details are going out to party members this week, and I'm one of the candidates - standing for the Federal Board.

The Impact of £60m a year for grammar school expansion?

LibDems are fighting against the potential loss of our most academically able children to expanding Grammer Schools. Bristol is among the most divided cities in the country. It has the second highest income per capita in the country, and pockets of poverty in the housing estates south of the river all the way to Weston-super-Mare. It is one of only a handful of areas outside the south-east where independent schools outnumber secondary schools and it is going to get a massive cash injection.
