Green Make-Over for Waverdale

During July, over 200 volunteers spent a day transforming part of the Waverdale site into a wildlife area for everyone to enjoy in the future.

Compton Road parking restrictions to be lifted

When the Compton Road Eye Infirmary was operational it was essential that the road was kept free from parked vehicles which had no business with the Infirmary. But the Infirmary has been closed for several years and these restrictions no longer make sense. Councillors Claire Darke and Robin Lawrence are delighted that thanks to pressure from the local Liberal Democrats and residents a workable solution to a problem has been found by a decision to suspend enforcement of the single yellow line restriction on Compton Road adjacent to the former Eye Infirmary.

Surrey 'World Class'? - Residents still don't think so!

The Conservative administration at County Hall has stated its ambition for the Council to be World Class but has not provided any definition of this term. However, it is clear that Surrey residents believe that the County Council has room for considerable improvement.

Step Short 2010

The day started on the Leas where I had a photo taken with two soldiers dressed in Middlesex Regiment Uniform from the WW1 period. We quietly processed from The Grand Hotel along Leas to the top of the Road of Remembrance, formerly called 'The Slope Road' and the long column walked down the road followed by the many spectators. The destination was the harbour where ten million men had departed for France almost a hundred years ago.
