Tesco replies to public questions

Following the public meeting held on 19th November, the questions asked by members of the public at that meeting were forwarded to Tesco by Cllr Julie Morris, as agreed with them beforehand. Their replies to these questions have been distributed to those who gave us an e-mail address and have now been posted on this website.

Democratic Accountability

Mr Stedman's short letter (EADT 24/11/09) was short and effective in delivering misinformation to readers. Other letters such as Stuart Letten, and Ian Smith (both EADT 20/11/09) seem to be seeking to drip a poisonous misrepresentation on the subject of the European Union. The Lisbon Treaty transferred power back to the 27nations of the EU, and democratised some of the institutions.

Anna Lo MBE MLA has been selected by the Liberal Democrats sister party in Northern Ireland, the Alliance Party, to stand in the next Westminster General Election for the constituency of South Belfast.

Heather Kidd Calls For Law Change To Stop Rip-Off Banks

Heather Kidd today demanded changes to the law following the Supreme Court's ruling on bank charges. Heather said that " The Supreme Court's decision not to ask banks to refund their outrageous charges that they have levied on the millions of people who've had to pay extortionate fees to their banks just because a cheque has bounced or they've unintentionally gone overdrawn is patently wrong."

Tories Failed To Vote For Proposals To Cut Emissions

Commenting on Conservative plans to cut the emissions of Government departments by 10% within a year, Heather Kidd said: "George Osborne's decision to back a 10% cut in the emissions of Government departments is a good idea now and was a good idea one month ago when he and his leader failed to vote for a Liberal Democrat motion that would have done exactly this."
