Lap-dancing club gets license

Wiltshire Council has issued its first Sexual Entertainments Venue license. Club Rouge in Salisbury has been operating for some time, but changes in legislation meant that it needed an SEV license in addition to the normal liquor and entertainment permits.

COUNCIL BACKS BID FOR EAST-WEST RAIL LINK

Bedford Borough Council has joined other authorities along the route of the proposed western section of East West rail, to express their commitment to the scheme in support of the government's announcement that it is minded to proceed with the project.

Drought over

Less than a month after declaring an official drought, the Environment Agency now says it's over. No sooner was the drought announced than the rains began to fall - last month was the wettest April since records began. The forty days of rainfall has restored many rivers and reservoirs, easing the pressure on the environment.

Essex County Council pushes for super-fast broadband

Essex County Council wants super-fast broadband (24Mbps) to at least 90% of properties (both business and residential) in the county and at least 8Mbps to the remainder. The Council is currently undergoing a lengthy procurement process to award a contract to a supplier to lead on delivering the necessary infrastructure upgrades.
