Olympic Festival Fun For All!

Tomorrow the Council will be submitting a bid to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) for the Bedford International Athletics Stadium to be granted the status of an 'Olympics Live Site' next summer. If successful, this will see us awarded a grant of £7,500 and will enable us to stage a free fun-filled festival of sport at the stadium during the Olympics, featuring a big screen showing all the action live, including the men's 100 metre final, and opportunities to have a go on the top class facilities on offer, especially for young people.

Grovelands Way Warminster - traffic calming to go in despite objections

As part of the planning consent for the Victoria Fields development in Warminster Persimmon Homes were required to provide traffic calming on Grovelands Way. However when the details of the scheme went out for consultation there were objections from a couple of residents and from Frome Minibuses, whilst there was no support for the proposals from anyone.

Share Dealing At Your Peril

A Kent resident has received a call from the Barrington Group, a financial firm based in New York offering to buy shares at grossly inflated prices. The sellers are asked to sign a variety of paperwork in addition to paying 'a refundable bond' of several thousands of pounds, as a gesture of good will.

Something strange in Chelmsford town centre on Saturday

ESSEXstreetdiversions returns to Chelmsford for its ninth year on Saturday 1 October. As a part of this award winning international festival, all manner of curious characters will descend on this town centre with a grand finale by Bash Street Theatre from 5pm. This year's line up will include performances never before seen in Chelmsford alongside the face of the festival "the Coneheads" performed by the Natural Theatre Company. Between 10.30am and 4.30pm the town will be filled with the weird, wonderful and downright bizarre, so don't be alarmed if you see a pair of dapper penguins, a giant lobster, comedic nannies, an unsavoury litter-picker or even crazy hair sculptors all the way from Spain!
