A number of Stockton Liberal Democrats have been to the Party Spring Conference in Harrogate this weekend, and have had a useful time debating, voting, questioning, making new contacts and training. At today's Liberal Democrat Spring Party Conference in Harrogate, Stockton Councillor Suzanne Fletcher asked the Parliamentary Party about them taking up the issue of the increasing use of expensive to use 084 numbers.

Putting the "warm" into warmfront

Councillor Julia Cherrett has been campaigning on the issue of the way that Warmfront is, or is not, working to help people in serious trouble as their existing heating has broken down. A dossier of problems dealt with has been sent in to Stockton Council for officers to look through and see if anything can be done.

Labour and Tories are the joint architects of the economic meltdown - Clegg

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has said the recession offers the chance to build a new economic order. In his closing speech to the Party's spring conference in Harrogate, he said Labour is "spent" and the Tories can "never be the party of change". He urged voters to turn to the Lib Dems for help in the recession and the long term vision to rebuild after it. The "one dim light" in a crisis is that it "opens the door to a genuinely new way of doing things," he said.
