"Make Our Crossing Safe"

Following complaints from parents about the half barriers at Allen's West level crossing not keeping children away from the trains Alan Lewis met with Stockton Council officers and Network Rail on site to discuss the issue. Network Rail say that it is acceptable on their safety assessment but that in light of new housing proposals they will look at it again. Meanwhile Stockton Council officers have said that they will fill in a gap in a fence and will look at putting a safety gate on the South East corner of the crossing.

Farron calls for full Ovarian cancer awareness campaign

Speaking in a debate in Parliament today South Lakes MP, Tim Farron, called on the Government to include Ovarian Cancer in its campaign to raise awareness of different forms of Cancer. Tim used the example of his Mum who died from the disease in 2004 aged 54 after receiving a late diagnosis.
