Anyone using the A49 to get from the Ludlow area to Shrewsbury will know that you have to allow extra time because the chances of hold ups are very real. Distressingly it is often because the road is closed due to an accident. Many of us can name people we know or know of who have been killed or seriously injured on it. The Highways Agency have upgraded parts of it recently but this will not deal with accidents at places like Wooferton, Bromfield, the Grove junction, various places from The Grove to Church Stretton to name but a few.
