Rochdale's serving Cabinet is looking into increasing the number of art and cultural exhibitions on display throughout the Borough. It follows a recent visit to the Link4Life Arts and Heritage Centre on Fishwick Street by Cabinet Members Irene Davidson and Keith Swift and local youth campaigner Andy Kelly.
Commenting on Ed Balls' announcement that the Government is to scrap SATs for 14-year-olds, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Jill Wareham said: "I welcome the Government's complete U-turn. The SATs tests taken by 14-year-olds are not only a waste of time but have been highly unreliable over the last few years."
The Leader of Guildford Borough Council Lib Dem Group, Cllr Fiona White, says that the letter pages of the Surrey Advertiser indicate just how popular the Guildford Shuttle Bus was and how angry residents are at its withdrawal. No doubt it is in response to that anger that the Council have decided to run a pilot of the Town Rider which is a poor substitute. People wanting to use the Town Rider have to join the Dial a Ride scheme and then pay for each journey which must be booked in advance unlike the Shuttle Bus which was available to everyone, free and could be accessed simply by standing at the bus stop.
