Liberal Democrat councillors support joint use of Sawyers site

Brentwood Lib Dem County Cllrs David Kendall and Barry Aspinell believe the best solution for the Sawyers Hall College site would see it being shared between a new University Technical College and the Becket Keys Church School because there is a definite need and demand for both in Brentwood. Cllrs Kendall and Aspinell formed this view after recently attending a meeting at Larchwood Primary School organised by parents to discuss the various options for the Sawyers Hall College site.

Cracking Down on Abandoned Vehicles

Last week I visited the yard where we send abandoned cars to be crushed. The purpose of the visit was to help raise awareness of our campaign to crack down on the scourge of abandoned cars, which make local neighbourhoods look unsightly and can attract crime in our communities. It is therefore vital that we take positive action to deal with abandoned vehicles swiftly and efficiently. In recent months 11 vehicles have recently been sent for crushing as part of the initiative, and in addition to dealing with the vehicles we are also working to prosecute those abandon the vehicles, with no regard to our local neighbourhoods.

All Cumbria’s MP’s come together to back brave ‘bucket list’ teenager Alice Pyne and get more people to be life-saving bone marrow donors.

All of the county's MPs are joining forces with the Anthony Nolan blood cancer charity, with a particular focus on getting younger men to sign up for the stem cell register - after the major outpouring of support for Alice Pyne throughout the County.

PRESS RELEASE: Lib Dems say: Council Budget surplus needs to be shared with Communities in Leicestershire

Leicestershire Liberal Democrats are proposing that the benefits of a projected surplus on the Council's Budget for 2010/11 should be used to protect vital community services. A report to the Councils Cabinet on the 14th June projects a budget surplus of £5.89m.
