Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling imposed the controversial new 50p top rate of tax on higher earners despite an official Treasury prediction that more than two-thirds of people earning more than £150,000 would not pay it.

Allotments Agreement Declared "Work in Progress"
After scores of complaints about the new tenancy agreement for allotments, the borough council has officially apologised for the mix up and agreed that the new agreement doesn't need to be signed for 2009.
