New Café for Priory Country Park
Bedford Borough Council has invited tenders to develop and run a café in the visitors centre at Priory Country Park. The multiple award-winning country park, which was awarded Green Flag status for the fourteenth year running this summer, already provides wonderful facilities for families, dog walkers, water sports, fishing and nature fans. However, in order to go even further and provide refreshments for those who wish to enjoy the park, the Council has invited businesses to tender.

More power to local government
The Prime Minister's recent letter to the Leader of Oxfordshire County Council is not only hypocritical. It also displays the ignorance of so many Westminster politicians of how local councils work. One could even add the word contempt in some cases! For over a century now central government has gradually emasculated local government whose foresight it was that gave our grandparents and great grandparents decent social housing, clean water, gas, electricity, proper sewerage, basic education and much, much more.
